Making the most of Edinburgh

Wellgate House is perfectly situated to help you make the most of your time as a student in Edinburgh, one of world’s most exciting and vibrant cities. With superb architecture, sophisticated culture and a social scene which positively buzzes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s not surprising that Edinburgh is the destination of choice for thousands of students from all over the world.

Getting around

Situated in the heart of historic Cowgate, in Edinburgh’s Old Town area, Wellgate House is within easy walking distance of the main University Campus and on excellent bus routes to all the other universities and colleges in the city. There’s also an extensive network of cycle paths throughout Edinburgh if you fancy a cheap and healthy way to get around.

To travel further afield, both Waverley Station and the main St Andrews Bus Station are a matter of minutes away, and you can reach Edinburgh International Airport, well-served by a regular bus link, in just half an hour.

On the doorstep

As well as being fantastically close to the University itself, and right in the heart of ‘student land’, you’ll find a wealth of local amenities right on your doorstep at Wellgate House. Late night supermarkets, university sports facilities, the Commonwealth Swimming Pool, museums, galleries, theatres, cinemas and parks – you name it, it’s within easy reach.

Endless entertainment

Edinburgh has an amazing nightlife – more diverse than many much larger cities – and the Cowgate and its immediate area are positively bursting at the seams with stylish bars, cafes, bistros, restaurants and nightclubs. Whatever your age or interest, you’ll find something to suit your taste – and with the Student Union in close proximity, getting home easily – and safely – at the end of your night out couldn’t be easier.
